OFFICIAL WINNERS OF THE TRIESTE FILM FESTIVAL 19TH EDITION FEATURE FILM, SHORT FILM AND DOCUMENTARY CONCOURSES

 
FEATURE FILM CONCOURSE
The jury, composed of Elda Guidinetti, Serge Sobczynski and Eva Zaoralová (Hepnerova) have unanimously awarded the Trieste First Prize of €5,000 to:
 
Plac Zbawiciela (Saviour’s Square) by Krzysztof Krauze and Joanna Kos-Krauze, (Poland, 2006)
 Selected for the European Film Awards 2007 and winner of the Grand Prix at the festival of Polish cinema in Gdynia –celebrated as  “a film masterly constructed and well directed, which recounts the effects of economical demise on human relationships”.
 
Special Mentions
Instalacija ljubezni (Installation of Love) by Maja Weiss, 2007: for its original  cinematographic language and for its satirical exposé of material and cultural consumerism. 
Pora umierać (Time to Die) dy Dorota Kędzierzawska, Poland, for the extrordinary performance by leading actress, Danuta Szaflarska.
   
SHORT FILM CONCOURSE
The jury composed of Michal Bregant, Davide Oberto, Irena Taskovski have assigned the Trieste Short Film Prize of €2,000 to:
 
Annem sinema öğreniyor (My Mother Learns Cinema) Nesimi Yetik, Turkey;
for it’s simple purity and natural sense of humour. This tribute to cinema is a wonderful example of how, to make a great film it is more important to have big passion than a big budget. This film also carries an important moral message: the audience should always stay until the end of the closing credits!
Special Mentions

Bende sira - Ich bin dran! (My Turn) by Ismet Ergün - Turkish-German production.

Congratulations to all of the child actors, for their fantastic performances acute interpretation of character.  

Na sončni strani Alp (On the Sunny Side of the Alps) by Slovenian director Janez Burger, for his diverse sense of the absurd and for his ironic unveiling of national stereotypes which exasperate the contemporary Slovenian society.

Porno by Jan Wagner, Poland 2006, for its cinematography which, whose precise conception of color and composition, manages to create a tight bond with the social atmosphere in which the story unravels.
 
DOCUMENTARY CONCOURSE 
the jury composed of Dumitru Marian, Laila Pakalniņa, Corso Salani have awarded the Alpe Adria Cinema prize (€2,500) to the Best Documentary in concours- ex aequo for two different ways of expressing reality.
Das Leben ist Ein Langer Tag (Life is one long day) by Svenja Klüh, Germany 2007
For the sensitivity and strength with which the director tells of a long moment  in the life of of various characters, floating their days away; and for their ability in using cinematography to express such a painful and suffocating situation.

Plošča (Kalinovski Square) by Jurij Chaščevatskij, Estonia 2007
for the director’s ability to create evocative images and document reality as he sees it, from his passionate, if not at times sarcastic, perspective.

 
 CCEI AWARD (Central European Initiative)
 For the film which best interprets and communicates current situations between our cultures (2.500 euros)
