TRIESTE FILM FESTIVAL
- 19th EDITION |
With the goals set by the first
twenty years of successful activity in sight, the Trieste Film
Festival- taking place from 17th to 24th January at the Cinema
Excelsior, the Cinema Ariston, at the Theatre Miela and organised as
always, by Alpe Adria Cinema association - offers an edition (the
nineteenth) richer than ever in proposals of international
competitions (feature film, short film and documentary), tributes to
great cinema and literature personalities, unseen monographs and
retrospectives dedicated to major cinema creators of Eastern Europe,
and paramount special events: a kermesse of over 140 titles, where
one will find important Italian and international premieres. The
selection operated by artistic director Annamaria Percavassi, once
again presents its audience with a festival adept to interpreting
and communicating the current situations at the heart of the New
Europe; and capable of documenting and presenting the more original
and indicative ideas of cinematic producers from these areas. The
definitive fall of the Italo-Slovenian border – which the festival
will not ignore by, once again, showing an invigorated presence of
Slovene cinema - creates a new sense of centrality for Trieste as
the ideal meeting point between east and west and a precious window
for so much cinematography which deserves an international overhaul.
