THE AWARD CEREMONY OF THE 28th TRIESTE FILM FESTIVAL

SATURDAY, JANUARY 28th

At 11:00 there’s the last Meeting with the Authors: Mirjana Karanović (director of A Good Wife), Robert Kirchhoff (director of A Hole in the Head), Evgenij Mitta (director of Act & Punishment), Marija Alëchina (Act & Punishment), Peter Entell (director of Like Dew in the Sun), and Bartosz M. Kowalski (director of Playground) will be in attendance.
The winners of the 28th Trieste Film Festival will be announced at 13:00 always at Caffé San Marco.

The day starts at Teatro Miela at 11:00, with the special showing of Sweet Dreams (Fai Bei Sogni) by Marco Bellocchio. At 17:30, Bellocchio will meet the audience and press in a masterclass at Magazzino delle Idee. The film is the story of a long search for the truth and the fear of discovering it. It is based on the novel Fai bei sogni by Massimo Gramellini and stars Valerio Mastandrea and Bérénice Bejo.
The showing is followed by the Animation Programme from 14:00.
At 16:15 the Tribute to Vitalij Manskij comes to an end with the showing of Private Chronicles. Monologue (Častnye Chroniki. Monolog). The film explores the lives of a generation born as Yuri Gagarin became the first man in space. Vitalij Manskij has woven together a fictional biography – taken from over 5,000 hours of amateur film material and 20,000 still pictures, all made for home use.
At 18:00 Born in Trieste presents Anishoara (Anişoara) by Ana-Felicia Scutelnicu. The film is about the last year of Anishoara’s childhood in the valley, before she takes off into her adult life. For this film, Ana-Felicia Scutelnicu won the “When East Meets West Development Award 2013” in Trieste.

In Sala Tripcovich at 14:00 art&sound presents Doomed Beauty (Zkáza Krásou) by Helena Treštíková and Jakub Hejna, the story of Lída Baarová, the famous Czechoslovakian actress, who had an affair with Joseph Goebbels, which transformed her into an enemy of her own country and a symbol of collaboration. The last biographical portrait of Helena Třeštíková, to whom the Trieste Film Festival dedicated a tribute in 2010.
At 16:00 there is a special showing of Afterimage (Powidoki) by Andrzej Wajda, the last film of the great Polish director, who passed away recently. The chief editor of the film Grazyna Gradon will be in attendance. In 1945, as Stalin sets his hands over Poland, famous painter Władysław Strzemińsrefuses to comptomise on his art with the doctrines of social realism. Persecuted, expelled from University, he starts fighting against the Party with the help of some of his students.
Starting from 19:30 Sala Tripcovich will host the AWARD CEREMONY of the 28th Trieste Film Festival, when Monica Bellucci will be awarded the Eastern Star Award. Following, there will be the showing of the closing film On The Milky Road (Na Mliječnom Putu) by Emir Kusturica, which will be presented by Bellucci herself. in a conversation with Claudio Masenza.
