The brand new work in progress section for long feature fiction films with Italian majority or minority co-producers

After the great success of the past editions of Last Stop Trieste, work in progress section dedicated to creative documentaries, When East Meets West and Trieste Film Festival expand their initiatives targeting projects in post-production phase and launch a new section exclusively dedicated to long feature fiction films produced or co-produced by Italian producers.

Selected teams will have the chance to present their works and screen 10′ of their films to an exclusive panel of more than 40 international sales agents, festival programmers and buyers. This is IT will select up to 5 long feature fiction films and an international jury will deliver the LASER FILM Award, a special in kind prize consisting in the color correction of one film (40 hours of work, technician included) of the value of approximately 10.000 EUR.

All applications must be submitted by the Italian producer/co-producer and must include: complete online application form and video material not less than 10 minutes long. In order to submit your application and the required material, you need to create your own account and fill in the online form following this link. The deadline is Dec 7, 2017 and the results of the final selection will be announced by Dec 22, 2017.

Thanks to the partnership with Milano Film Network (MFN) all films submitted to L’Atelier MFN 2017 and to This is IT by November 13 will be shared and considered by both selection committees. The main goal is to offer a dual opportunity to all Italian producers, fostering their chance to attract distribution partners on a domestic and international level. Furthermore, one of the projects selected at L’Atelier MFN 2017 (presented at Milano Industry Days on Dec 5, 2017) will be selected by WEMW and TSFF and presented at This is IT in January 2018.

This is IT will take place alongside the Trieste Film Festival and When East Meets West on January 23, 2018.

GUIDELINES & SUBMISSION

I. General aspects:
Please note: the deadline for submitting a project to This is IT is DECEMBER 7, 2017.
In order to submit your application and required material, you need to create your own account and fill in the online form following this link
Incomplete applications will not be taken into consideration.
Application materials and subtitles should be in English.
The selection committee’s decisions cannot be appealed.

II. Submission:
All applications must include the complete online application form.
It is mandatory for the submitted video material to have English subtitles.
The video material submitted must be not less than 10 minutes long.
The video materials should be either 1 full scene or maximum 3 separate scenes.
The video is mandatory to be available via streaming service password protected (e.g. vimeo). No transfer services or cloud storage is accepted.
The application has to be finalized and submitted via following link with all the required documents by DECEMBER 7, 2017

III. Selection Criteria:
This is IT has interest to support long feature fiction films with a strong cinematic language and artistic imprint of the director. No specific themes or styles are preferred. There are no other specific fixed criteria and each individual project will be considered on its own merits.
Projects should be new or recent and there should be a potential international market.
The project should be a feature film with theatrical potential (minimum length of 70 minutes)
The project can be in different stages of post-production, though highly recommended to be in its early editing phase and still looking for international distribution and festival premiere.

IV. Specific Conditions:
There is no entry fee for applications.
Once a project has been selected, at least one representative (director or producer) should be present during This is IT (23 January 2018).
Finished films selected should mention This is IT and display its logo in their credits. Preferably, the following sentence should be mentioned in the credit list: “[film title] has participated at This is IT of WEMW and TSFF”. The logo will be sent upon request.
