This morning at Urban Hotel
Design was the official and important event.
The press
conference for the twentieth edition of the festival was the
chance for you to hear the news and proposals for this new year. Not
only did journalists attend but also filmgoers, nosey people and those
fond of the Triestine review. Present among the red, green and black
chairs were also political figures of the city and of the region. The
Artistic Director Annamaria Percavassi introduced the meeting and to
finish the conference was the inevitable toasting ritual for the good
takeoff of the cinematographic event.
Twenty years are at
the point of arrival but also of departure. Annamaria Percavassi has
underlined how the team of Alpe Adria Cinema have consolidated
themselves during this time. So much so that proposals from the
cinematographic association Alpe Adria Cinema have become this year
important projects, such as "Eastweek" care of Elena
Giuffrida, or the section "Walls of Sound" dedicated to
sounds from Eastern Europe by Giovanna Tinunin.
There are of
course the substantial reappointments of the sections of feature
length films, shorts, and without forgetting the Documentary section.
But lets look over some of the proposals.
Between the
novelties being shown this year, there is only one
that is truly a unique occassion: EASTWEEK. Great
European directors will be giving lessons to film students from many
important schools from Eastern European countries.
ATTENTION! These
meetings will be public and have FREE ENTRANCE. Do not miss such an
opportunity. Important events include writers such as Andrzej
Zulawski talking about the techniques of directing, scriptwriting,
acting and more. Look at the programme for the other ‘teachers’.
A well awaited
confermation was the proposal of Zone di Cinema
(Cinema Zone). A section that notes the films shot in the region.
This year moreover a new prize has been created: it will be the
pubblic who chose which film from the section deserves the prize
offered by the Province of Trieste.
The
Greek project which will continue also next year, has been
presented by our editor Nicoletta Romeo. A glance at a country that
geografically, due to the Balcanic Peninsular, but aslo historically
and culturally seems extremely far from the other countries of the
East.. and with a precise and profound vision this section will
demonstrate how similar the boundaries and realities are of these
‘Ironcurtain’ countries.
You cannot miss
the appeal truly important for the Cinema Excelsior.
Once the Festival has been carried out, the historic cinema will
have to close its doors for the last time. The building in fact has
to be used as a destination for new commercial means. The decision
about its use has not yet been finalized, we are talking about a
period of about two years, a period in which we hope the cinema will
still be open for use.
With the
quantity of proposals impossible to mention them all here we invite
you to look at our website to discover the other sections and the
various films that will be screened during the festival.
For those not so
fond of cinema remember to look at the musical evenings, receptions,
and more... it is for these reasons that there's TFF20
NOTJUSTCINEMA!
