Meetings at the Urban Hotel Design

The first of the Trieste Film Festival meetings regarding the Eastweek Project. To present it was the curator Elena Giuffrida and two great directors: Marta Mèszàros and Jerzy Stuhr. With two such great personalities often already guests of the festival it was inevitable that the meeting turned into a good chat rather than a simple formality.

Stuhr first of all thanked Elena Giuffrida for having called him a few months ago to participate in this project, in which he is more defined as an adviser more than a teacher. "I want to give practical advice, all the professions available in cinema are established through practical work, and if I can give advice, I hope it will be useful. It is an honour to be here as a friend of the festival, and I feel among friends" In fact it is in the right spirit of the festival to create a friendly atmosphere, that makes the contact simple with the actors, directors and the public. It is also for this reason the lessons are free entrance.

The Director Annamaria Percavassi during the presentation wanted to point out the choice of having a female director among the teachers of the Masterclass. The Hungarian director  received her cue to narrate how she started out,  she began in 1968 and what seemed to be unusual became a female director. "When, in 1975, I won the Golden Bear in Berlin, there was a strange sensation, like today when we were watching a film directed by Madonna; the prejudices against films directed by women are numerous".

The second morning meeting previews the presentation of a new Triestine publishing house, which has horizons further than we can draw. It refers to the publishing house Beit of Piero Budinich, translator, German expert, historic collaborator of the Triestine review.
