WORK IN
PROGRESS
What is
happening in the streets of Trieste? Who has taken possession of
Cinema Excelsior? Those who walk past, comment. A
suspicious grimace at those unknown, curious glances, some do not
want to stop but continue to pass by and turn around in order to
observe this ‘big affair’.
And in
Via Pescheria and in Via S. Rocco what
else is there?
The
press room in Via Pescheria is in full preparation mode:
those in charge check that all the cubes have holes in the right
places so that the army of volunteers can be unleashed to insert the
hundreds of screws and flat washers, hang up posters and make sure
that everything is clean and in order for welcoming the journalists
with elegance.
At
Palazzo Costanzi discussions are underway of how to
organize the various panels and precious documents in display for
the exhibition "Trieste, James Joyce and the Cinema: A History of
Possible Worlds"... the workers are setting up the display windows
and lights in a continual fashion of coming and going, while a
specialist takes care of the antique cine cameras.
Shortly all will
be clear. The Trieste Film Festival is about to begin! And there
will be other interesting proposals at the Teatro Miela, Cinema
Ariston and more.
The temporary
offices for the festival are at the Hotel Continentale
in 25 Via S. Nicolò (continous hours from 10am to 8pm) they
are ready to welcome the badge holders, to give information and
material to those who want to know the programme of the Festival.
There are lots
of things to do and we cannot stop. We take breath only for a minute
and then immediately resume work. There are very few days until the
start of the Festival and the activity backstage is more and more
frantic!
