A catalyst for the nouvelle vague and its disciples, Louis Garrel acts as a link to neuroses and whims, indiscipline and revolution, expanded eroticism and the beauty of pre and post-1968 cinema. He is the reborn Antoine Doinel who crosses the reconstructed set of the Parisian spring amid flames and smoke bombs in the trenches of the demonstrators with their handkerchiefs and red flags.
