IMMAGINARE IL PATRIARCATO: PROIEZIONE FILM “RELIQUIA”

Special event as part of the exhibition “Imagining the patriarchy” curated by the IoDeposito Association (open at Cavò – via San Rocco 1 – from 19 to 30 January 2022)
With the feature film Reliquia (Relic), Cristian Tablazon accepts the proposal to re-imagine the narrative about the Patriarchate of Aquileia and Friuli Venezia Giulia as a land of multiculturalism, combining this theme with the practices of komedya (or moro moro): a form of theatrical representation typical of Filipino folklore.The three sections that make up the film take up three traditional Friulian tales, readapted to an extremely distant era and geographical area: through the intersection of the colonial histories of Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Philippines, the artist places the identities and cultures of these two territories in dialogue.
The lyrical beauty of the images and the use of black and white become, in this little gem of Filipino cinema, a medium between two temporal and geographical realities that are close but distant.
