SGUARDI. 100 ANNI DI ALIDA VALLI

On 3 December 2022, the Casa del Cinema in Trieste opened its first exhibition. Curated in collaboration with the Università Popolare of Trieste, and thanks to the contribution of the regional initiative Contenitori Culturali e Creativi, it will be open to the public, with free entry, until 28 January 2023. The ‘Gazes’ exhibition is entirely dedicated to the iconic actress Alida Valli, and takes place between the entrance of the Casa del Cinema building and the Miela theatre, where numerous photographs portraying the artist from Pula are on display. The portraits from the Carlo Montanaro archive capture the beauty and photogenicity of Alida Valli, her intense and austere gaze, her expressive face which is always shrouded in a halo of mystery. The photographs captured from film retrace the various stages of her formidable career. The exhibition invites us to cast our gaze on the performer, to contemplate the depth of their eyes, between the folds of their soul, between a natural discretion and their capacity to lay themselves bare in front of the camera.
