Film Festivals go GREEN!

AFIC – The Italian Film Festival Association, has promoted the panel ‘A Greener Festival’ on the topic of sustainability in cultural and cinematic events within the 24th Cinemambiente Turin Festival. Among the numerous proposals there is also the “Green Festival Protocol”, that will be contributed to by both the undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Ecological Transition.

The meeting was attended by many guests and speakers to discuss the issue of sustainability of cultural events and film, from Marco Glisoni of Arpa Piemonte who spoke of the difference between protocols and specifications in the European scene, giving as an example of the experience of Cinemambiente (Eco-friendly cinema), Marco Niro of APPA Trentino who presented the specification Eco-events Trentino, Sara Leporati of Fondazione Compagnia San Paolo who illustrated the hypothesis of introducing criteria related to environmental sustainability to the projects they finance, Silvano Falocco from Fondazione EcoSistemi, who presented an overview of the adoption of criteria for participation in funding calls, Angelo Gentile, who illustrated Legambiente’s Ecoevents label, Aldo Blandino, representative of the Territory and Environment Department of the city of Turin, who showed the administration’s commitment to helping its events with ISO20121 environmental certification, and finally Andrea Serra from ASJA Group, who spoke on the possibility of offsetting residual CO2 emissions produced by events.
