I sobborghi di Padova, Nordest d'Italia: Flavia, una parrucchiera, sta chiudendo il negozio dopo 43 anni di attività. Ha 61 anni. Ha lasciato la scuola quando ne aveva 11. Ha fatto la parrucchiera da sempre. Alle sette di sera dell'ultimo giorno, il negozio è buio, Flavia è sola: una lampada fioca illumina le sue mani mentre mette a posto piccole e grandi forbici. Sono mani rovinate le sue, piene di screpolature, le dita annerite dalle tinte. Alla fine Flavia chiude il negozio che non riaprirà più, lasciandosi così alle spalle tutta una clientela di anziane signore. Chiusura è un film sui vecchi tempi, ma è anche un film sulla periferia di una piccola cittadina dell'Italia di oggi.
The suburbs of Padua, North-East Italy: Flavia, a hairdresser, is closing her shop after 43 years in business. She is 61 years old. She left school when she was 11. She has always been a hairdresser. At seven in the evening of the last day, the shop is dark and Flavia is alone: just one weak light bulb illuminates her hands as she tidies away small and large pairs of scissors. Her hands are ruined by work, chapped and with the fingers blackened by the dyes she uses. At the end, Flavia closes up the shop that she will never re-open, leaving behind all her clientele of elderly women. Chiusura is a film about the old days, but it is also a film set at the edge of a small Italian town today. |
