Ivan Gudkov è uno degli ultimi sopravvissuti al Gulag. L’uomo, vecchio e malato, conduce un’esistenza miserabile: lo vediamo in una malandata baracca di legno, a parlare con i suoi cani. Uomo senza biografia, Gudkov non ha né passato né futuro. Viene ripreso adesso, nel suo presente: bestia o essere umano? In ogni caso la sua vita è quella di un martire che non è stato e non sarà mai un eroe.
Ivan Gudkov is one of the last survivors of Stalin''s Gulag. He is elderly and sick, and lives a basic existence. We observe him during a typical morning of his, in a meagre wooden shack while talking to his dogs. Gudkov is a man without a biography, without a past and without a future. He has been filmed in his present: bestial or human? His life is the fate of a martyr who never was and never became a hero. |
