Dopo anni trascorsi senza alcun contatto con il padre, il quindicenne Sebastian si presenta a casa dell’uomo. Marcel Werner non è ancora riuscito ad ambientarsi nella società tedesca dopo il crollo del Muro. Disoccupato da anni, l’uomo trascorre le proprie giornate fra una tavola calda vietnamita e il suo malandato appartamento nella ex-Berlino Est, ascoltando tutto il giorno musica country e sognando una carriera come guardia del corpo. Sebastian, che non riesce ad andare d’accordo col nuovo compagno della madre, vorrebbe rimanere con il suo strano padre: il ragazzo capisce che a suo padre manca qualsiasi cognizione di marketing, di promozione di sè. Così Sebastian si impegna a istruire il padre in vista di un colloquio di lavoro, proponendogli modelli di celebrità che potrebbero tornargli utili, “ho sempre immaginato mio padre come Clint Eastwood in Nel centro del mirino.” Il testardo Marcel comincia un po’ alla volta a prendere sul serio i consigli del precoce ragazzo e i due presto diventano un team inseparabile...
After years without contact, fifteen-year-old Sebastian shows up at his father´s flat. Marcel Werner never managed to find his place in the new society after the fall of the wall. Jobless for years, he is spending his days between a vietnamese diner and his run-down flat in former East-Berlin. He’s listening to country music all day long dreaming of a career as bodyguard. Since Sebastian can not cope with his mother’s new boyfriend, he intends to stay with his strange father: he soon realises that what his father lacks in particular is the right marketing strategy. Immediately, he sets about coaching his dad for the next interview, furnishing him with useful celebrity role models such as “Clint Eastwood in the film In the Line of Fire, that’s how I see my Dad.” Nevertheless, the stubborn Marcel begins to take his son’s precocious advice on board and the two indeed develop something of a comradely partnership... |
