Il regista ripercorre la sua vita in un dialogo immaginario con la madre, morta ormai da tempo, alla ricerca della sua comprensione e assoluzione finale. Rivisitando alcuni luoghi della sua città natale, Praga, rievoca anche alcuni dei grandi avvenimenti storici del suo paese tra i quali il nazismo, l'invasione sovietica del '68, la presidenza di Václav Havel. Il film ha vinto Il Pardo d'Oro Video Sony al Festival Internazionale del Film di Locarno.
The director goes over his life in an imaginary dialogue with his mother, who died some time ago, in a striving for her understanding and final absolution. Revisiting some of the sites of his birthplace, Prague, he evokes some of the great historical events in which his country was involved, such as Nazism, the Soviet invasion of 1968 and the presidency of Václav Havel. The film won the Golden Leopard Video Sony at Locarno International Film Festival. |
