Miková č un piccolo paese slovacco nei Carpazi. Poche cose sono cambiate da dieci anni a questa parte, dopo il crollo del Muro. Come un tempo anche oggi gli abitanti prendono l'acqua dal pozzo e ogni volta che un'automobile attraversa il paese č un piccolo evento. Un sistema di altoparlanti lungo l'unica strada del villaggio viene ancora usato per diffondere settimanalmente annunci ufficiali e musica patriottica. Questo č il posto dove vive la famiglia di un certo Andrijku Warhola, i cui parenti credevano si guadagnasse da vivere lavorando in un negozio di pitture e come imbianchino… fino a quando la televisione non ha annunciato la sua morte. Un viaggio da Miková a Manhattan, dalle icone bizantine alla Pop Art e da Andrijku Warhola ad Andy Warhol. Sin dal 1952 innumerevoli film, documentari e servizi giornalistici hanno avuto come soggetto Miková, il piccolo villaggio slovacco di 150 abitanti da dove proveniva la famiglia di Andy Warhol. I am from Nowhere 'va a trovare' i parenti che ancora vivono lŕ, indaga sul clamore e sulla fama generata dai media, sui leggendari "15 minuti di celebritŕ" che ciascuno di noi dovrebbe avere almeno una volta nella vita, secondo Warhol. Ma č anche un film sui sogni e sulle speranze degli abitanti di Miková, sul sogno universale di una vita migliore e sull' "American dream" che del tutto inaspettatamente puň trasformarsi in un incubo.
Miková is a small village in the Carpathians. Little has changed in the past ten years since the fall of the Wall around here. Just as in the past, the inhabitants fetch their water from the well and every time a car goes through the village, it is a small event. A system of loudspeakers along the only road in the village is still used weekly to make official announcements and broadcast patriotic music. This is where the family of a certain Andrijku Warhola lives, whose parents thought he was earning a living working in a paint shop and as a decorator… until the television announced his death. A journey from Miková to Manhattan, from Byzantine icons to Pop art and from Andrijku Warhola to Andy Warhol. Since 1952, innumerable films, documentaries and articles have visited Miková, the little Slovak village with its 150 inhabitants, from which hailed the family of Andy Warhol. I am from Nowhere 'goes to meet' the parents who still live there, explores the clamour and fame generated by the media, and the legendary "15 minutes of fame" that each of us should have at least once in our lives, according to Warhol. But this film is also about the dreams and hopes of the inhabitants of Miková, about the universal dream of a better life and about the "American dream" which can become a nightmare completely unexpectedly. |
