La routine quotidiana su un vagone ristorante di un treno: tavoli deserti, un cameriere stancamente appoggiato al finestrino si pulisce le unghie della mano, il cuoco e la cameriera anch'essi con molta calma fanno trascorrere il tempo. Sono gesti d'attesa. La comunicazione non sembra più necessaria, l'unico rumore che si sente è quello del treno che corre sulle rotaie: un suono monotono e lento. Sembra un treno di fantasmi. Ma d'un tratto il quadro si anima: le tre figure cominciano a spazzare e pulire, perché tutto deve essere in ordine quando si arriva al capolinea.
The daily routine on a restaurant car on a train: empty tables, a waiter leaning tiredly on a window cleaning his finger-nails, the cook and a waitress equally intent on letting time drift by. Everyone is waiting; communication does not seem necessary. The only sound is that of the train rolling along the rails, a relentless, monotonous sound. It is like a ghost train, but suddenly it comes to life and the three figures begin feverishly to brush and clean so that everything is in order when they reach the end of the line. |
