Da un anno, il giovane regista Tobias Hansen vive a Berlino con la fidanzata, Ellen. Da quando è iniziata la loro convivenza, Tobias ha perso ogni contatto col fratello Markus, musicista rock di Amburgo. Il sospetto di Tobias è che le due persone più importanti della sua vita gli abbiano mentito e che all’epoca ci sia stato qualcosa fra loro. Quando vede i manifesti che pubblicizzano il tour tedesco della Hansen Band, di cui il fratello fa parte, decide di realizzare un documentario su di lui. Markus, seppur riluttante, accetta. Ma non sa nulla delle reali intenzioni di Tobias e del fatto che ha invitato anche Ellen a prendere parte alle riprese… Il regista e gli attori hanno lavorato insieme per sviluppare i caratteri dei personaggi. Anche la musica del film e la band di cui Markus fa parte sono state create grazie alla collaborazione di veri musicisti, e il gruppo è stato davvero in tour in Germania. Quello che ne è uscito è una sorta di film improvvisato, un po’ documentario e un po’ fiction, cui è seguito un disco, inciso dalla Hansen Band, e un libro (il “falso” diario di Ellen) usciti nel 2005.
Young filmmaker Tobias Hansen has been living with his girlfriend Ellen in Berlin for the past year. Since then, he has lost contact with his brother Markus, a Hamburg rock musician. Tobias suspects that the two most important people in his life have been lying to him, maybe something happened between them a year ago. Catching sight of a poster for the Hansen Band’s tour of Germany, he decides to make a documentary about his brother. Reluctantly, Markus agrees, but he has no idea what his brother’s real intentions are and that Tobias has invited Ellen to join him on the documentary shoot… Lars Kraume and the actors developed the characters’ biographies together. Similarly, the film’s music and the band to which Markus belongs were also created in collaboration with real musicians, and the band genuinely went on tour in Germany. The result was an improvised semi-documentary feature film, followed by an album, recorded by the Hansen Band, and a book (Ellen’s fictional diary) all published in 2005. |
