Phillip Wagner sta guidando da solo lungo una strada secondaria che gli abitanti del luogo usano come scorciatoia per la città di Wolfsburg. Sta discutendo al telefono con la fidanzata quando, d’un tratto, investe un bambino. Vede il corpo del piccolo nello specchietto retrovisore, esita, si ferma, ma non esce dalla macchina. Rimette semplicemente in moto. Sembra che la fortuna sia dalla sua parte: il bambino esce dal coma in cui era caduto e la polizia cerca una macchina diversa dalla sua. La vita di Phillip Wagner continua. Lui e la sua fidanzata vanno in vacanza su un’isola nella speranza di ritrovare il sentimento che non provano più. Ma il bambino muore: la madre Laura, distrutta dal dolore, decide di trovare il responsabile. Ci prova in tutti i modi, ma senza risultati. Poi, un giorno, conosce per caso Phillip che prova ad aiutarla e a sostenerla. Un sentimento di sicurezza, misto a intimità, comincia a crescere fra i due. Laura, però, non ha la minima idea di chi sia l’uomo a cui si sta legando...
Phillip Wagner is driving along an asphalted dirt track used by the locals as a short cut to Wolfsburg. He is having an argument on the telephone with his fiancée when, suddenly, he runs over a child. He sees the child’s body in his rear-view mirror, hesitates, brakes, but does not get out. He simply drives on. It looks as though Phillip might be lucky. The boy comes out of his coma and the police are looking for another car rather than his. Phillip Wagner’s life continues. He and his fiancée go away on holiday to an island in the hopes of regaining their love for each other. But while he is away, the child dies. Shattered by her son’s death, Laura decides to find the perpetrator. She tries anyway, but all to no avail. And then, by chance, she meets Phillip. Phillip tries to help her and give her support. A feeling of security and closeness begins to evolve between them. But Laura has no idea with whom she’s getting involved... |
