Lynn, anni 22, vive a Berlino, con il fratello, la cognata e i loro due bambini: si trova bene a vivere in un'atmosfera familiare, anche se non ne è del tutto coinvolta. Lynn non ha un obiettivo preciso nella vita: trascorre le sue giornate prendendo quello che viene, di giorno nella mensa dove lavora svogliatamente, di notte in un night club, dove arrotonda ballando come cubista e dove riesce a sfogare così tutte le sue insoddisfazioni. Lynn ha soprattutto delle difficoltà di relazione con il suo ragazzo, David, nuotatore di professione, estremamente disciplinato, interessato solamente agli allenamenti perché lui invece un obiettivo nella vita ce l'ha: partecipare ai campionati mondiali. Quando la ragazza incontra Koji, uno studente giapponese che parla poche parole di tedesco, accade l'imprevisto. Pur non riuscendo a comunicare con lui, Lynn lo sente simile a lei, riesce a condividere con lui quella voglia di libertà, di spensieratezza, di gioiosa sensualità che caratterizza i suoi vent'anni.

Lynn, 22, lives in Berlin with her brother and sister-in-law and their two children. She feels at home in a family atmosphere, even though she is not wholly involved. Lynn has no real aim in life: she takes each day as it comes. During the day she works desultorily in a canteen and at night she dances in a night club, which earns her some spending money and gives her the chance to work off her frustrations. Above all, Lynn has problems in her relationship with her boyfriend, David, a highly-disciplined professional swimmer who is only interested in his training sessions, because he does have an aim in life: to take part in the world championships. When Lynn meets Koji, a Japanese student who speaks little German, something unexpected happens. Although she can hardly communicate with him, Lynn's instinct tells her he is like her and she senses he shares the same desire for freedom and the carefree, joyful sensuality characterisitc of her twenty years. |
