Girato per la televisione, il film esplora e cerca di analizzare il rapporto privato e personale che la gente ha con Gesù. Un 'film - confessionale', in cui si vedono persone che vanno in chiesa, che siedono sui banchi e cominciano a pregare-parlare con Gesù: Gesù è colui che salva o ha salvato, colui che parla o è silenzioso, colui che bisogna amare, guida, padre e amico. Ritratti, frammenti, di sei persone, sei credenti che hanno un rapporto del tutto personale con Dio: pregano, fanno voti, cantano, si pentono, lo invocano, fanno domande e aspettano risposte. Ognuna delle sei storie svela uno spazio di intimità, ma anche di vita vissuta, di lamenti, di desideri nascosti, di speranze e di dolori, di sogni.
"Non volevo mostrare l'ipocrisia o l'arroganza della Chiesa Cattolica, nemmeno il cerimoniale o quell'autoritarismo bigotto e conservatore, o l'aspetto più kitsch. Quello che mi interessava mostrare era proprio l'intimità del rapporto che lega Dio e chi lo prega." (Ulrich Seidl)
Made for television, this film explores and tries to analyze people’s personal and private relationships with Jesus. A "film as a confessional ", which shows people going to church, sitting in the pews and starting to pray-talk to Jesus: Jesus as the figure who saves or has saved, who speaks or remains silent, the guide, father and friend whom we must love. These are the portraits, snapshots, of six people, six believers who have an entirely personal relationship with God: they pray, make vows, sing, repent, invoke Him, ask questions and await an answer. Each of the six stories reveals a private corner, but also aspects of real life, including grievances, hidden desires, hopes, pain and dreams.
