I suoi studenti lo ignorano, nei locali alla moda non lo servono per principio. Anche il suo vicino, malgrado sia sempre strafatto di fumo, ha una vita sociale molto più interessante della sua. Il giovane insegnante Daniel è decisamente poco "cool". Sarà l'incontro con Melek a cambiare la sua esistenza assolutamente priva di fantasia: Daniel se ne innamora follemente e decide di seguirla fino a Istanbul. Accompagnato da Juli, una ragazza entusiasta della vita che vende gioielli per la strada e che da tempo lo ama in segreto, Daniel inizia il lungo viaggio verso la Turchia. La lunga odissea attraverso i Balcani segnerà per il noiosissimo insegnante di fisica l'inizio di una nuova esistenza. Daniel verrà picchiato, sedotto, abbandonato, rapinato e gettato in una galera turca. Per la prima volta, addirittura, si farà uno spinello. Capirà finalmente che l'esistenza comincia al di fuori dell'aula scolastica. Ma, soprattutto, imparerà che la felicità esiste. E che non bisogna lasciarsela sfuggire.
His students ignore him and in the fashionable bars they refuse to serve him on principle. Even his neighbour, despite being constantly doped up to the eyeballs, has a more interesting social life than him. The young teacher, Daniel, is decidedly not "cool". But his meeting with Melek changes his existence that is totally without fantasy: Daniel falls madly in love with her and decides to follow her to Istanbul. Accompanied by Juli, a young girl full of life who sells jewellery in the street and who has for some time loved him in secret, Daniel starts out on the long journey to Turkey. The long odyssey through the Balkans marks the beginning of a new life for the boring physics teacher. Daniel is beaten up, seduced, abandoned, kidnapped and thrown in a Turkish jail. For the first time, he smokes a joint. He finally understands that life begins outside the classroom. Above all, however, he learns that happiness does exist. And that he mustn't let it slip through his fingers. |
