Cartographies è un progetto della Compagnia Philippe Saire (Svizzera) e si struttura in una serie di interventi coreografici nella città di Losanna. Lo scopo è quello di cercare modalità nuove con cui inserire i corpi nel paesaggio, rinnovando le identità degli spazi urbani, accostando la danza contemporanea, le tecniche video e un ambiente urbano esterno, per dimostrare quanto questi tre elementi si compenetrino. In questo modo la danza esce dai suoi luoghi tradizionali per incontrare il pubblico negli spazi e nelle situazioni della vita di ogni giorno. Per conservare un ricordo duraturo di questi interventi effimeri nel paesaggio cittadino, il lavoro dei danzatori è stato filmato da video artisti, dando così una forma specifica all’interpretazione, all’identità e alla memoria della città. L’intenzione è quella di creare una serie di video. Quest’opera collettiva comprenderà dodici film su altrettante performance che si terranno in dodici luoghi diversi di Losanna tra il 2002 e il 2008. La compilation che viene presentata a Trieste comprende i primi 6 video realizzati e sarà accompagnata dalla performance live del danzatore Mike Winter.

Cartographies is a project created by Compagnie Philippe Saire from Switzerland and is structured as a series of choreographic interventions in the city of Lausanne. The aim is to search for new ways of printing bodies on landscape and creating fresh identities for urban spaces and to associate contemporary dance, video techniques, and an outdoor urban environment, in order to show the mutual compatibility of these three elements. This is way dance comes out of the spaces traditionally assigned to it and meets the public in everyday spaces and situations. To make a permanent record of these ephemeral interventions in the cityscape, the work of the dancers has been filmed by video artists, thus giving a specific form to the interpretation, identity and memory of the city. The intention is to compile a series of these videos. By the end, this collective work will comprise a dozen films about the performances which will take place in twelve different locations between 2002 and 2008 in Lausanne. The compilation which will be presented in Trieste gathers the first 6 videos and will be completed by the live performance of one of the dancers, Mike Winter.
