La quarantenne Anam, madre e moglie, è una donna turca fedele alle tradizioni. Vive con la famiglia ad Amburgo. Anam fa la donna delle pulizie insieme a Rita, una tedesca estroversa che prende la vita come viene, e a Didi, una donna africana molto superstiziosa. Le amiche sostengono che Anam dovrebbe pensare un po' più a se stessa e cercare di realizzare i suoi sogni. Ma Anam non riesce ad andare contro i desideri del marito.
Il mondo le crolla addosso quando scopre che il figlio maggiore Deniz è tossicodipendente e che il marito ha una relazione con una collega. Disperata va in giro per le strade di Amburgo alla ricerca del figlio insieme alle compagne di lavoro. Decide di prendersi cura di Mandy, la ragazza di Deniz, anche lei tossicomane. Riesce a rintracciare il figlio ma capisce quanto sia difficile aiutarlo. Mandy muore in un incidente, mentre sta tentando di far riconciliare Deniz e la madre. Anam è disposta a tutto. Va dallo spacciatore che rifornisce il figlio…
Forty-year-old Anam, mother and wife, is a Turkish woman who is faithful to her traditions. She lives with her family in Hamburg. Anam is a cleaner, and works with Rita, an extrovert German who takes life as it comes, and with Didi, a highly superstitious African woman. The friends and work-mates believe Anam should think a bit about herself, try to realise her dreams and dedicate herself less to her family. But Anam cannot go against her husband's wishes.
Her world implodes when she discovers that her eldest son, Deniz, is a drug addict, and that her husband is having an affair with a colleague at work. In desperation, she wanders the streets of Hamburg searching for her son with the help of her work-mates. She decides to take care of Mandy, Deniz' girlfriend, who is also an addict. She succeeds in finding her son but understands how hard it is to help him. Mandy dies in an accident, whilst she is trying to reconcile Deniz and his mother. Anam is prepared to do anything and goes to the dealer who supplies her son… |
