Margot è un’immigrante. Viene da uno dei paesi che stanno dall’altro lato del mare Mediterraneo. Sebbene abbia 78 anni, va a lavorare tutti i giorni a piedi. È una stiratrice. Va a lavorare negli appartamenti di persone perbene. Per la maggior parte del tempo non li incontra, ma assorbe il loro mondo come una bimba in una casa di bambola.
“Il tema centrale di questo film è il tempo, quello che questa anziana donna reinventa, nei suoi momenti di solitudine, quando stira negli appartamenti vuoti. Man mano che Margot avanza verso la morte, ritrova l’infanzia attraverso ricordi e sensazioni. Sembra andare verso il paradiso attraverso immagini dolci, brillanti, bianche... come la carezza di un angelo. La sua anima sembra andare avanti al suo corpo.” (Danielle Arbid)
Margot is an immigrant. She comes from one of those countries on the other side of the Mediterranean. Although she is 78, she goes to work every day on foot. She irons clothes and goes to work in the homes of the well-to-do. For much of the time, she does not meet them, but she absorbs their world like a child in a doll’s house.
“The central theme of the film is time, the time this old woman re-invents in her moments of solitude, when she is ironing in the empty apartments. Little by little, as Margot moves forward to her death, she rediscovers her childhood through memories and sensations. She seems to go towards paradise via sweet, brilliant, white images… like the caresses of an angel. Her soul seems to precede her body.” (Danielle Arbid) |
