Il documentario racconta, attraverso primi piani e chiaroscuri, un viaggio attraverso uomini, donne e bambini del popolo dei Rom, ancora oggi misterioso e sconosciuto ai più. Partito per documentare la realtà e il presente di un paese, la Bosnia Erzegovina, in cui le ferite della guerra sono ancora aperte, il regista fa emergere volti e movenze che appartengono alla storia e alla cultura di un popolo che viene da lontano, utilizzando un linguaggio cinematografico che mira al superamento della distinzione fra genere documentaristico e fiction.
"È la storia di un viaggio fra le comunità rom della Bosnia-Erzegovina che, partito per documentare il presente ha finito per assumere i caratteri di un film storico... infine una motivazione più razionale, quella di capire che cosa fosse stato di loro, degli zingari, un popolo notoriamente senza patria né religione, in una terra quale la ex Jugoslavia in cui popoli, etnie si erano massacrati in nome di una nazione e del loro buon dio." Through a series of close-ups and plays of light and shade, this film tells of a journey through the men, women and children of the Rom population, which remains mysterious and little-known to this day. Having left intending to document the reality and present of Bosnia-Herzegovina, in which the wounds of war are still open, the director reveals faces and attitudes that belong to the history and culture of a people from far away, using the language of the cinema that aims to go beyond the distinction between documentary and fiction.
"This is the story of a journey amongst the Rom communities of Bosnia-Herzegovina which started with the intention of documenting the present and ended by taking on the characteristics of a historic film there was also a more rational motivation: that of understanding what happened to them, the gypsies, a people famously without homeland or religion in an ex-Yugoslavia in which peoples and ethnic groups massacred each other in the name of a nation and their god."
