"Un’immagine riaffiora, forse dimenticata o volutamente messa da parte... un volto lontano, in fondo a un corridoio buio; voci indistinte, luoghi sfuocati, viaggi sovrapposti... Il tentativo di avvicinarsi, di fare luce nella memoria, di ridare tratti chiari a ciò che è indistinto. Ma quanto più ci si avvicina, tanto più il volto si fa sfumato, o sfugge portato via da altre immagini sedimentate nel tempo, anch’esse pronte a reclamare la stessa attenzione. Poi, alla fine di un viaggio, ritrovarsi fermi in una stazione vuota, quasi al punto di partenza, col dubbio che fuori dal finestrino non siano passate altro che proiezioni, nostre o di altri viaggiatori; che i tapis-rulant della memoria ci abbiano illuso ancora, noi e le nostre valigie vuote.." Seconda parte del lavoro iniziato con Fermo del tempo, Petite mémoire scava nei ricordi, nelle reminiscenze che ci ossessionano e ci sfuggono, tra sussurri e disturbi della percezione.
"An image rises to the surface, after being perhaps forgotten or deliberately thrust aside.. a distant face, at the end of a dark corridor; indistinct voices, out-of-focus places, overlapping journeys.. The attempt to draw near, to shed some light on memories, to bring into focus that which is indistinct. But the nearer one draws, the more the face becomes unfocused or flees, pushed aside by other images buried in time, they too ready to claim the same level of attention. Then, at the end of a journey, finding oneself in an empty station, almost at the starting point, with the worry that what was seen beyond the window was only a series of projections, ours or of other travellers; that the conveyor belt of memory has deceived us once more, we and our empty suitcases.." The second part of the work that began with Stopping of time, Petite mémoire digs into recollections, into the reminiscences that obsess and flee from us, between the whispers and disturbances of perception. |
