Mean Streets nei pressi del porto di Amburgo. Amore, amicizia e tradimento, sono i temi intorno ai quali ruotano le vicende di tre amici cresciuti ad Altona, quartiere multietnico della cittā: Gabriel, di origine turca, Bobby, serbo, e Costa, greco. Gabriel esce di prigione: ne ha abbastanza della sua vita di piccolo criminale, ha capito che probabilmente non ne vale la pena. Č cresciuto ad Amburgo. La cittā, il porto, gli amici, sono il suo mondo anche se la Turchia per lui sta diventando un mito. Comincia a lavorare come tassista per il fratello. Costa continua, rubacchiando, la vita di sempre. Bobby invece č convinto di farcela: vuole fare carriera, diventare un boss della malavita, anche se questo significa lavorare per la mafia albanese. Egli cerca di diventare l'uomo di fiducia dell'albanese Muhamer, che gli affida l'acquisto di un piccolo arsenale. Ma le cose vanno male: il giovane serbo si fa truffare. Muhamer non perdona. Lo uccide. Costa, sopraffatto dal dolore giura di vendicarlo. Gabriel detesta la violenza ma non vede altra via: prende la pistola del padre e tenta di salvare il salvabile
Mean streets close to the port of Hamburg. Love, friendship and betrayal: these are the themes around which revolve the events affecting three friends who have grown up in a multiethnic part of town, Altona: Gabriel, of Turkish origin, Bobby, Serb, and Costa, Greek.
Gabriel has come out of jail. He's had enough of his life as a petty criminal; he's understood that it's probably not worth the while. He has grown up in Hamburg. The city, the port, his friends; these are his world. But Turkey is becoming a myth for him. He begins working as a taxi driver for his brother. Costa carries on with his life as ever, stealing here and there. Bobby is instead convinced he can make it: he wants to get on in the world, become a boss in the underworld, even if this means working for the Albanian mafia. Bobby tries to become the right-hand man of the Albanian Muhamer, who sets him the task of buying a small arsenal but things go badly: the young Serb is hoodwinked. Muhamer shows no pity and kills him. Overcome with grief, Costa swears revenge. Gabriel detests violence but sees no other way; he takes his father's pistol and tries to save the situation... |
