Nel villaggio di Asht in Tagikistan, la casa di Schodi si trova vicino al fiume: parecchie volte al giorno il figlio Kurched deve portare l'acqua con dei grandi secchi. Sebbene abbia 18 anni, Kurched è ancora piuttosto piccolo: pensa anzi di non riuscire a crescere per via di quei pesanti secchi che deve portare ogni giorno, che lo costringono a stare sempre curvo. Kurched minaccia di andare via da casa se la famiglia non risolve la situazione: Schodi allora decide di costruire un pozzo nel cortile fuori casa…
Schodi's house is located near the river running through the village of Asht in Tadjikistan. Several times a day, the son, Kurched, must fetch water in large buckets. Although he is 18, Kurched is still rather small; he thinks he will never grow as a result of those heavy buckets that he has to carry every day, and which force him to remain bent over. Kurched threatens to leave home if the family does not resolve the problem. Schodi decides to build a well in the courtyard outside the house… |
