“Dopo 10 anni di assenza Rade •erbedÏija torna nel paese dove è nato, la Croazia per interpretare un ruolo teatrale. La prima parte del film, che si intitola LA 2003, è costituita dalle osservazioni di Rade sulle ragioni che l’hanno costretto a lasciare il suo paese e sul perché ora è tornato. Nello stesso tempo ci parla dei problemi che ha avuto due anni fa nel cimentarsi nel ruolo di Re Lear. Nella seconda parte, London-Brioni, mentre Rade guida la sua macchina da Londra alla Croazia, ci parla di Re Lear e del perché sta tornando nel paese. Parallelamente alla storia di Rade vediamo la preparazione dello spettacolo sull’isola di Brioni. La terza parte del film Lika 1997, mostra Rade che ritorna, per la prima volta dopo la guerra, a Buniç-Lika dov’è nato.
Questo è un film su mio padre. È anche un film sui problemi personali e di interpretazione di un attore mentre affronta un ruolo a teatro, uno dei più difficili, quello di Re Lear. Ho cercato una risposta al perché, dopo i suoi successi internazionali e dopo la carriera fatta a Hollywood, ha voluto tornare in Croazia dopo 10 anni di assenza e recitare in un teatro croato.” (Danilo •erbedÏija)
“After 10 years of absence Rade •erbedÏija is coming back in theatre in his home-country Croatia. First part of the film called LA 2003 is Rade’s observation about reasons why he had to leave his country and why now he is coming back. Meanwhile, he is talking about the problems he had in creating the role of King Lear two years ago. In the second part, London-Brioni , while driving his car from London to Croatia, Rade talks about King Lear and why he is coming back. Along Rade’s story parallel action shows the process of staging Shakespeare’s King Lear on Brioni islands. Third part of the film Lika 1997 shows Rade coming for the first time after the war at his birthplace, Buniç-Lika.
This is a film about my father. It is also a film about an actor fighting with theatrical and his personal problems while creating one of the most difficult roles – King Lear. I searched for an answer why, after his international success and Hollywood career, he wants to come back and act in Croatian Theatre after 10 years of absence.” (Danilo •erbedÏija) |
