“Nell’ambito del premio “Art visuels 2004”, la Fondazione Evens ha organizzato un concorso per sceneggiature di cortometraggi sul tema dell’ “incontro”, rivolto a giovani registi europei e del Medio Oriente. Con questo concorso, basato sul principio della cooperazione culturale, la Fondazione Evens desiderava creare nuovi spazi di dialogo fra Europa e Medio Oriente. I candidati finali sono stati proposti da un comitato di selezione e una giuria indipendente ha poi decretato i tre vincitori, i quali hanno girato i loro film in Giordania. Tutti i tre lavori testimoniano, al di là del contenuto, un’ambizione cinematografica forte. Nell’ambito di una riflessione più ampia sul posto che occupa la cultura visiva nell’ambito di una comunicazione “globalizzata”, i progetti vincitori sono anche stati scelti per la sottigliezza e l’originalità dell’approccio con cui gli autori hanno trattato le problematiche legate al tema dell’ “incontro”. Gli autori premiati sono stati Nassim Amaouche (Quelques miettes pur les oiseaux), Timon Koulmasis (De quelle couleur sont les murs de votre appartement?), Ula Tabari (Diaspora). I tre lavori sono stati presentati all’ultima Mostra del Cinema di Venezia.” (G. Jaulin)

“As part of the “Art visuels 2004” award, the Fondazione Evens has organised a contest for short film scripts on the theme of “encounters”. It is aimed at young European and Middle Eastern directors. With this competition, based on the principle of cultural co-operation, the Fondazione Evens wished to create new space for dialogue between Europe and the Middle East. The final candidates were proposed by a selection committee and an independent jury then decreed the three winners, who made their films in Jordan. Quite aside from their content, all three works bear witness to a strong ambition in making film. As part of a broader reflection on the position held by visual culture in a “globalised” communication, the winning projects have been chosen for the subtlety and originality of approach adopted by their creators in tackling problems associated with the theme of “encounters”. The winning directors are Nassim Amaouche (Quelques miettes pour les oiseaux), Timon Koulmasis (De quelle couleur sont les murs de votre appartement?), Ula Tabari (Diaspora). The fims were screened at the latest Venice Film Festival.” (G. Jaulin)
