Sullo sfondo di una desolata e inquieta cittadina, sperduta in un’area industriale del Kirghisistan, scorre la vita del giovane Scimmia (chiamato così per le sue orecchie) e dei suoi amici. I ragazzi passano il tempo fra combattimenti, feste, noia e prime avventure sessuali, in attesa di andare a fare il servizio militare. Scimmia però ha più guai degli altri. Suo padre è un alcolizzato cronico, mentre sua madre, che è stata a lungo paziente, ora ne ha abbastanza: decide di andarsene di casa assieme alla figlia più piccola. Attraverso una serie di avventure, ora divertenti ora dolorose, incontri rischiosi con la dura realtà della vita adulta, turbato dai dubbi e dalle incomprensioni degli altri, lo spirito indomito di Scimmia pian piano comincia a emergere. Dapprima insicuro, comincia a diventare sempre più forte per fronteggiare le avversità della vita.
The life of young Chimp (called that because of his ears) and those of his friends unfold against the backdrop of a desolate, restless little town, lost in an industrial area of Kirghizistan. They pass their time fighting, partying, bored and living their first sexual forays, whilst waiting for their call-up to military service. Chimp has got more problems than the others. Him heartache, his father is a chronic alcoholic, whilst his mother, who has put up with him for a long time, has now had enough: she decides to leave home, together with her younger daughter. Through a series of adventures that are at times amusing, at times sad, and in risky clashes with the hard reality of adult life, troubled with doubts and the incomprehension of others, the indomitable spirit of Chimp begins to emerge. Initially insecure, he becomes increasingly strong to cope with the adversities of life. |
