Da quando il padre è scomparso misteriosamente, risucchiato dal tornado Rollow, il diciassettenne Jack vive solo con la madre, divenuta pazza. Trascorre le giornate vagando per la campagna, le strade e le case abbandonate in compagnia del suo gruppo di amici. C’è Lenny, il suo migliore amico, che ogni giorno diventa sempre più aggressivo. C’è Jeanne, la ragazza di Lenny, che è un vero maschiaccio; e infine Nox, il più tranquillo dei quattro. I ragazzi, che sniffano colla, rubano e compiono atti vandalici, sono ossessionati dal tornado, su cui proiettano tutte le loro angosce. Le immagini serene delle nuvole che corrono, dell’erba accarezzata dal vento contrastano con la violenza delle azioni e dei pensieri dei giovani.
Since the mysterious disappearance of his father, lost in a tornado nicknamed Rollow, seventeen year old Jack has lived alone with his mother, who has gone crazy. He wanders around the countryside, the streets and various squats with his group of mates. There’s Lenny, his best friend, who is becoming more and more aggressive and dangerous, Lenny’s tomboy girlfriend Jeanne and Nox, the quietest of the four. These characters, sniffing glue, breaking and entering, are obsessed by the tornado onto which they project their own anxieties. Images of tranquillity, drifting clouds, summer grasses blowing in the wind, contrast with the violence of the teenagers’ talk and behaviour. |
