The retrospective will examine this crucial year from the second half of the 1900s from two sides: the East and the West, those who have pioneered and have been wholly inspired by ’68, prolonging its spirit into years to come. A brief, electrifying period of total revolution, characterised by an exceptional creativity from East to West, with its thematic and stylistic assonances.

The initiative aims to promote independent Italian films, both fiction and documentary, seeking international distribution. The best film of this section will be awarded the “Corso Salani Award”.

A showcase dedicated to works that tread the line between cinema and contemporary art, with a focus also on music documentaries. In collaboration with Sky Arte.

The best of When East Meets West: a showcase displaying recent films whose international life started in Trieste during their pitching at the When East Meets West meetings, where all these films found either a co-producer or a sales agent.

Feature Launch has expanded its workshop cycle to become the leading year-long development programme for Central and Eastern Europe's new film talents. 
For this new cycle the Trieste Film Festival, along with When East Meets West, has officially teamed up with Midpoint, Prague, in order to be part of a new, professional development programme with stronger connections to the international film industry, set in different locations for the residential workshops and in collaboration with Karlovy Vary Film festival.
