A family prepares for a reunion and a religious celebration. Just before her daughter’s first Holy Communion, Mula’s long lost sister, Kaja, pays a visit. But it’s not a happy reunion – Kaja is feared by her family. Simultaneously, strange metaphysical events are affecting the village and television reports bring disturbing news.
Best Debut Director for Jagoda Szelc at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, Tower. A Bright Day was then presented at Berlinale’s “Forum” 2018.

“An ecologist friend of mine says that humanity has reached a crucial point before a global catastrophe. She compares the situation to a car that trembles on a cliff. It can go either way and it is up to us to move to the backseat. The problem is that we all prefer the front seat behaving like the Owners of the world. But really we are only its Renters … Since we are incapable of such shifts on our own we need guidance. Every profound change begins with some kind of death.” (J. Szelc)

Jagoda Szelc
Film director Jagoda Szelc was born in 1984 in Wrocław, Poland. From 2009 to 2015, she studied in the Directing Department at the Film School in Łódź. Tower. A Bright Day is her first feature film.
